Think Big scholarship applications for 2023 entry is now open for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
Scholarships are open for applications for those planning to enrol in September 2023. You must apply for your course or programme at Bristol before you apply for a scholarship.
You only need to complete one application form to be considered for all of these scholarships that you are eligible for. Scholarships for 2023 enrolment will be added to the end of fall 2022.
Guidance for completing the application form
There are two types of applications: one for postgraduate applicants and one for undergraduate applicants. Be sure to complete the necessary forms.
There is no security plan, so you will need to complete the application at one time. Once you select “Submit” it is final and you will not be able to make any further changes. You will receive an email to confirm that we have received your application.
If you do not receive it, be sure to check your junk or spam folder. If you are filling out the form on a smartphone, you can turn your phone to face-down mode to see all the text.
To help you prepare, we’ve listed the information you’ll need below.
Personal Details and Application Information
You will need to provide:
- your UCAS ID (if you’re an undergraduate student), Student ID (if you’re a postgraduate student, current International Foundation Programme student in the Centre for Academic Language & Development or if you’ve applied through the Global Transfer Programme) or Kaplan ID (if you’re a KICL student)
- the course or programme of study you’ve already applied to (you must have applied to a course or programme to be eligible for scholarship opportunities).
- your name
- your email address (this is how we will communicate with you, so make sure it’s accurate and you have access to it throughout the year)
- your nationality
- your permanent country of residence (this is the country you are ordinarily resident in, not a country that you are only living in for the purpose of full-time education)
- your current or most recent educational institution
- details of any other funding you have applied for or are due to receive.
Application questions
There are three questions to answer. The maximum number for each question is 200 words and each question is worth 10. These questions are different for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
Make sure you have selected the correct study level to answer the questions related to your application. Respondents who have not answered the questions correctly will not be considered.

Undergraduate

- We are looking for scholars who will be great representatives for the university, understand the power of networks and communities, and affect positive change. How can you get involved in the University of Bristol student community? Use this opportunity to explain your plan and how your contribution will affect the process you have chosen.
- We are looking for scholars who will make the most of their time at Bristol and fullfill their potential. Tell us your future goals and how your chosen course at Bristol will help you “think big” and achieve them. » Describe what attracted you to studying at the University of Bristol, and other steps towards your career goals.
Postgraduate
- We want to support the brightest and best people who will work hard to contribute to the development of their country in the future. Describe any qualities or accomplishments that you believe qualify you for the scholarship. >> These can be academic or extracurricular achievements, as well as the reason you are applying for the scholarship.
- We are looking for scholars who will be great representatives for the University. Give examples of where you have recently contributed to your community.’ >> This could be your school or university, where you live, or any other community that you feel like a member of.
- We would like to support students who have clear goals for their future. Explain how studying your chosen program at the University of Bristol helps you “think big” and shape your plans after graduation. » Explain what attracted you to studying at the University of Bristol, and your ultimate career goals.

Scholarships Covered By this Application Process
By completing the application form, you will be considered for all of these scholarships for which you are eligible. Additional scholarships will be added for entry 2023 and end fall 2022.
